As it is one of the business centers

interests. But still, the symbolic

castle, of which tower has been restored,

| Inuyama The town of Inuyama is located by the Kiso River, and is an ideal place to enjoy canoeing or river rafting. The castle of Inuyama is known for its wooden tower which is the second oldest in Japan. Establishments such as 'the Monkey Center', a research institution on the primates, and 'the Meiji-mura Village', an open-air museum where architectures of the Meiji period (1868-1912) are being relocated, are in the locality. Cormorant fishing on the Nagara River is also renowned. 3 to 5 hours will be necessary for sightseeing in the town. A day trip from Nagoya is feasible. The city of Ise is the seat of the Ise Shrine, dedicated to the ancestors of the Imperial Family. Aboard a pleasure boat that cruises along the bay, uique features of the complicated 'saw-toothed coastlines' of Toba and Shima can be observed. 'The Toba Aquarium' is outstanding. The area is well known as the home of pearl cultivation. Two to three days will be nec-essary for sightseeing. There are tour buses from Ujiyamada station on the Kintetsu line or JR Toba station, either of which makes a visit to important places in the locality.
