We can easily visit "Ao-no-domon (Tunnel dug through the Kyoshu Peak)", Which still has a trace of chisel and easily go to Yabakei claft shop in a southern direction. . Both are 5 minuts from Youth Hostel Yamakuniya on foot. Also, there are a archives center next to the shop, and a holl where you can experience making buckwheat. Rakanji temple is 1 km ahead from there. The Five Hundred Disciples of the Buddha is on the hillside and the view from this site is beautiful. From Nakatsu to Morizane, there is a cycling road which is one of the greatest road for 35 km along the Yamakuni river. There is a Yabakei Bidge below the Ao-no-domon which is greater than any other arch bidge in Kyusyu.
From Nakatsu station on Nippo-hon line by bus for 25min to Nakajima bus stop, 2min from bus stop to hostel by walk.
